It feels a little odd to talk about myself like this, but I understand that you’re interested, and I’ll respect that.
I could have one of those professionally written, fancy, almost-a-resume About Me pages. You know, the ones that make me sound like some super-incredible, can-do-no-wrong, never-made-a-mistake, perfect human beings. Well, that’s not me. Absolutely, 100% not me.
I’d rather sit down and join you for a cup of coffee and a slice of pie. Doesn’t that sound better? We could find some comfortable patio next to a mountain stream and just chat. That’s more my style.
Since you are interested, here are a few highlights about me…
My sons, Michael and Brandon, are the world to me. Not a day goes by that I don’t appreciate the amazing gift that they are in my life. I truly believe that I am the luckiest dad in the whole universe. The relationship that I have with each of them nurtures my soul as only the love of a child can. With both of them moved out and heading down their chosen paths in life, my time with them has become less frequent, but the moments that we have together are filled with smiles, love, and laughter.
My extended family is also an unending source of support and love. To be connected to so many people who you know will always be there for you is a blessing that I do not take for granted. The older I get, the more important these relationships become. From a simple dinner to a family reunion, there are few things in life as precious as my family.
All of my life, I’ve found that hiking brings me a sense of peace and tranquility. Even in the moments where I may be attempting an arduous attempt at a summit, there is a stillness and inner harmony that I feel when I am hiking. Those moments when I am alone in the wilderness and connected to the natural world, are moments that bring true meaning to my soul.
For many years, Rocky Mountain National Park has been my “home away from home.” I’ve spent days upon days meditating on isolated peaks, walking through wildflowers, and simply recharging my spirit deep in the forest or high in alpine tundra.
Recently, I purchased a teardrop trailer to take me to many new and exciting places to pull on my hiking boots and hit the trail. I’ll be sharing more of my travels in my 1001 Tales of Treasure.
A few years ago, I decided to pursue a dream that was long overdue – write a novel. I found the endeavor to be far more satisfying than I expected. Today, I am focused on becoming a full-time author and digital nomad. Here are my current projects:
The Transprophetics (Science Fiction Series)
Short Horror Story Collections
I also blog about the beautiful places and wonderful hikes that I get to experience as part of my 1001 Tales of Treasure.
I got my first 100mm camera when I was a little boy, and ever since then, I’ve loved looking through the lens. The ability to capture the beauty of a moment and generate an emotional response pushes me to continue to snap away.
Okay. I’ll confess. If the truth is to be told, I also love the tech. Gadgets and gear are just so much fun to play with. I simply love to buy and play with new toys. Whether is an attachment for my iPhone or a new lens, big boys love toys too.
My love of hiking and nature combines well with my love of photography, with one exception. I’ll be walking out the door, and I’ll pick up my backpack. Sometimes the hardest thing about hiking is deciding which of my equipment goes with me!
There are days that I am truly awestruck by how incredibly fortunate I am. From my family to my health to the innumerable blessings and advantages in my life.
I believe that we need to support those things that we truly believe in. While I wish that I could do more, I am passionate about conservation, wildlife, and those who are most vulnerable.
Please help me support organizations that are helping move our society in the right directing, while giving aid and support to helping those in need.
