Oregon Pipe Cactus National Monument was more beautiful than I ever expected, and I had two perfectly wonderful hikes: one to a mine and mine store ruins and one to a double arch.

I meandered into the Sonoran desert from my campsite and did something I hadn't done before, even though I've camped in this area several times and often wandered the desert.

I'm back on the road and to the Sonoran desert after leaving Colorado and driving for two days, with a few stops along the way to eat and explore the El Malpais National Monument.

Although this wasn't much of a hike, I knew I wanted to stop and see one of the largest natural arches in New Mexico while I passed through the El Malpais National Monument.

Believe it or not, there are castle ruins in Missouri! It was built in 1905 and destroyed by fire in 1942. After wandering the ruins, I also checked out a sizable natural land bridge.

Checking off another incredible National Treasure was only part of the joy of my day on Cass Island, which included a ferry, wineries, a Biergarten, a cave, a golf cart, and some hiking.

After a busy day of laundry, errands, visiting a cathedral, and hiking in the path of Jessie James, I rolled into Jasper, MN, for a night at a campground with electricity and an outhouse.

On my way to Vermilion, SD, to deal with Internet challenges, I had to cross the Missouri River. I thought the overlook was a quick place for a photo, but it had a nature trail too.
