It’s always tough to leave good friends and their families. It’s so easy to get attached to the little ones and know that they’ll be so much bigger the next time you see them.

Speaking of kids, I needed to return to Colorado for my oldest son’s girlfriend’s law school graduation at the University of Colorado. While this probably could have been a two-day trip, I need to work, and I’ve got to see at least one or two things on the way. So, I picked a route home that would allow me to camp by some rivers.

Here are a couple of pictures from the highway above the Avery recreation area.

A wide river curves through a green valley under a cloudy sky. Grassy plants in the foreground transition to rolling hills covered with grass and patches of rocky terrain. The sky is filled with dramatic, gray clouds, hinting at an impending storm.
View of a river with a bridge in the distance, surrounded by grassy hills and small settlements. The sky is cloudy, casting soft shadows over the landscape. A road runs parallel to the river, with scattered houses nestled among green fields and rocky terrain.
