Jacky’s Mexican Food

Visited on: Wednesday, February 14, 2024

With my food level dwindling, I headed toward the city to hit a Walmart to restock my pantry. Since I was running into town and have been hungry for Mexican food, I got on Google maps and found a food truck with good reviews and a high average rating.

As I was checking the menu online for this food truck, I noticed something on their menu that I had never seen on a Mexican food menu – Huarache.

After digging around on Google for a minute or two and discovering that these are likely to be big sopes, I knew I was going to have to try one. I was not disappointed. It was delicious.

A takeout container from Jacky's Mexican Food holds a Mexican sope topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and sour cream, garnished with a grilled jalapeño, lime wedges, cucumber slices, and radish on the side atop its thick corn base.

Of course, since I didn’t know exactly what it would be or how big it would be, I also ordered a couple of tacos to go with it. I probably didn’t need the tacos, but I am glad I got them because they were also outstanding.

Two takeout containers from Jacky's Mexican Food sit on a table: one holds tacos with onions, cilantro, and lime; the other has enchiladas topped with cheese, crema, jalapeños, tomato, and cucumber. A glass Coca-Cola bottle is in the background.

Jackie’s Mexican food is slightly more than just a food truck. They actually have a permanent building and a fixed tent over tables. Ultimately, the grub here is precisely what you want from a Mexican food truck.
