I’m so often drawn in by the creative architecture of many churches. I tend to ignore most modern architecture and buildings that look less interesting.
As I was driving along, this small Adobe brick church grabbed my attention, and I had to pull over and check it out. It had an overwhelming southwestern desert feel and has been weathered and beaten by the elements.
Although constructed in 1955, it would not have been surprising to learn that it had been built 100 years before.
The interior was plain but had a reverent sense of worship and community.
After seeing so many majestic and impressive organs in large churches designed to handle the acoustics of massive instruments and choirs, I wish I could’ve heard what this one sounded like in this small space.
the cemetery next to the church, certainly looked older than the church itself, although it is hard to tell because the gates were locked, and I didn’t feel like violating the space sanctity of the space.
A melancholy sensation came across me as I looked at the headstones and discovered one that was simply nothing more than rebar.
