Join my adventure to Tombstone, exploring its history at the O.K. Corral and beyond, despite multiple attempts and the weather’s challenges. A tourist trap worth the journey!
A scenic mountain sunset frames three photos: a miner underground, vibrant blue minerals, and an old mining street. Text highlights the Queen Mine Tour, Bisbee Mining Museum, and eating with locals. “The Hiking CEO Shea Oliver” logo is featured.

After a few days of productive work and dripping spring, I needed to pick up an Amazon delivery and decided to visit Mammoth, where I found some very interesting destinations.

Having a few weeks with my friends Mark and Kate was spectacular, with trips to New York City and crash courses on modern and contemporary art from a successful artist.
Ely Minnesota
What an amazing couple of days I had on my way to a friends' home in Ely, MN. I learned about mining, the Bois Forte Ojibwe, and the incomparable Hollywood icon Judy Garland.
A grounded vintage yellow train caboose sits on tracks beside a green and white building, possibly the Tower Train Museum. The sky is partly cloudy, with a few trees in view. In the foreground, a paved area features some grass and a yellow parking block.
Just my luck; when I rolled through Tower, Minnesota, looking forward to checking out another train museum, it was closed. I guess I'll have to come back someday!
In downtown Virginia, a large bronze eagle with outstretched wings is perched on a sculpture of soldiers in action. Set on a stone platform and surrounded by flags, the scene is framed by trees under a partly cloudy Minnesota sky, with a paved walkway and two white planters adorning the foreground.
After filling up at Pep's Bakery, I decided to wander around the town of Virginia, Minnesota, to see if I could discover anything interesting or photo-worthy.
A small lighthouse-like building stands near a tree by the water's edge in downtown Walker, MN, with a paved path leading to it. An American flag is visible on the left side of the image, near parked vehicles.
Wandered around the cute town of Walker, Minnesota, and checked out the little lighthouse in the city park and the downtown
A compact teardrop camper with its rear hatch open sits on a concrete pad in Flandreau City Park, with a black SUV nearby and blue picnic tables in the vicinity. Trees and grassy areas are in the background, making this spot in Flandreau, SD, perfect for a peaceful retreat.
Found a great city park right on the bank of the Big Sioux River. It was a great place to get some work done, and explore a little South Dakota town.
A black Jeep is parked on grass in Norland Park, towing a small teardrop trailer. The scene includes trees, a house, and industrial buildings in the background, reflecting the diverse landscape of Arlington.
With expectations that I would have an Amazon delivery on Monday in Brookings, I headed over to Arlington, SD to work for the weekend.
A small trailer is set up next to a black Jeep on a grassy field with a tree providing shade, reminiscent of a peaceful park in Scotland. A blue van is parked in the background under a clear sky.
After a disappointing day in Yankton, SD, I needed a place with high-speed Internet to do a few days of work. I was hoping that Scotland would be interesting but...
A mural on a white brick building in Wilber, Nebraska, titled "Czech Capital of the USA," features Czech dancers, an American flag, and local landmarks. Decorative scrolls and symbols border the artwork. In front lies a cracked asphalt parking lot, adding to its rustic charm.
Wilbur is one of the many small towns I've rolled into, and I wish I had more time to explore it. However, having a few minutes to walk around was still cool and interesting.
Street view of a small Nebraska town, possibly Table Rock, with an old brick theater featuring a marquee sign. Next to it is a vacant storefront, while across the road sits a motel with an American flag. The partly cloudy sky adds to the quiet, deserted atmosphere.
After wandering around Dawson, NE, I committed to stopping in the next small town to see if it was faring any better, but unfortunately, Table Rock appears to be in decline too.
An abandoned, overgrown brick structure with boarded-up windows stands beside a road in Dawson, Nebraska. The building is partially surrounded by tall grass and weeds. A cloudy sky and lush green trees are in the background, with a power line running along the roadside. A small signpost is visible nearby.
After checking out the church that caught my eye as I was driving through, I decided to take a walk around and snap a few pictures of this town that is slowly fading away.
A mural of a muscular, red bull with white horns breaking through a brick wall is painted on the exterior of a brick building.
I definitely felt snappy for the photos after leaving the abandoned schoolhouse and all the cool things I saw on Highway 83 so I pulled in to Jetmore to see what I could see
A historic stone building with arched windows and a tower stands at a corner intersection under a clear blue sky.
I simply love stopping in cool little towns that have unique character. The bank building here is absolutely beautiful and needed to be photographed and added to my blog.
