Sidewalk Sauntering

A centennial monument captures a group of horses and riders in motion, set on grassy terrain near a small pond. The dynamic scene unfolds under a cloudy sky, with scattered clouds overhead. Pathways lined with sparse autumnal trees enhance the naturalistic setting, reminiscent of the historic Land Run.
While in Oklahoma City, I had to check out this massive monument. I'd heard about it and wanted to experience it as there are very few sculptures anywhere near its size.

For years, I've heard about Oklahoma City Bricktown, and I was excited to visit. Unfortunately, it seems that it is a much more popular place in the warmer months of the year.

Sometimes, I just like to walk around and take pictures of buildings in small town downtowns. Even though the weather wasn't too cooperative, I loved snapping these pics.
In the quaint town of Marysville, a small street with red brick pavement is flanked by historic buildings. Wandering past storefronts with large windows and trees rustling gently, cars park along the roadside. The overcast sky hints at faint traces of distant fog, adding to the charm.
Marysville is an adorable little town, and I headed out to walk around and see what I could see. I always love finding small towns that have figured out how to make themselves relevant.

Heading to a marker on Google Maps, I stumbled across this interesting historical marker that had been updated with corrected information after years of erroneous stories.

As I continued north, I headed into the adorable little town of Council Grove, Kansas. In addition to checking out the Kaw Mission Museum. I just wandered around town.

Near Cottonwood Falls, the small town of Strong City was once the railroad hub in the area. The trains now roll through the town without stopping, but an open caboose caught my eye.
