Climbing in the City of Rocks National Reserve

This is my second trip into the city of rocks to climb with my wonderful friends Rolf, Erik, and Lynn. Because I’m not an experienced climber, I don’t carry my phone or camera, so I didn’t get too many pictures. Hopefully, as I gain experience, I’ll be more comfortable taking photos while climbing.

Here are a few photos of my climbing partners heading up Bath Rock.

Two rock climbers in red jackets scale a steep, textured gray cliff under a cloudy sky. They are positioned midway up, with one higher than the other. The rugged surface features crevices and patterns, and the scene conveys a challenging ascent.
A large gray rock face with two climbers wearing red and orange gear, scaling the surface. The rock is surrounded by patches of green vegetation at the base. The sky is blue with scattered clouds.
A large gray rock face dominates the image, towering above a patch of green grass at the base. A small figure in red climbing gear ascends the rock, highlighting the scale of the formation. The sky is mostly cloudy with patches of blue visible. Vegetation is sparse near the rock.

I need to be better at taking photos when I’m hanging out with my friends doing cool things. The rock climbing is absolutely a blast but we also have a great time just hanging out.

Of course, we occasionally have to head into town to the steakhouse. And yes, I did eat that 1 pound burger.

A double cheeseburger with lettuce, melted cheese, grilled onions, and a bun, held together by a skewer, on a checkered paper-lined plate. Accompanied by seasoned fries. Nearby are a coffee cup, glasses, a pint of dark beer, and condiments on a red table.

Here are a few more photos of my campsite and Bath Rock.

A black SUV is parked on a rocky dirt path next to a small trailer nestled among trees and shrubs in a scenic, sunlit area. The sky is clear and blue, and mountains are visible in the background, suggesting a remote, peaceful camping spot.
A black Jeep with a roof rack is parked on a dirt path beside a small white camper. Green bushes are in the foreground. The background features rolling hills, scattered trees, and a clear blue sky with a few clouds, suggesting a remote, natural setting.
A rugged, sunlit rock face looms against a clear blue sky, with a single tree perched at the top. The rock's surface is textured with cracks and crevices. Below, lush greenery and a dirt path lead to the base of the rock, contrasting with the stone's gray tones.
Rugged gray rock formation under a bright blue sky with scattered clouds. A rock climber, wearing a helmet, is ascending near the top center. At the base, sparse vegetation can be seen, adding contrast to the rocky surface.
A rugged, steep rock face dominates the scene, with a single climber in a red outfit scaling its surface. The sky above is cloudy, and sparse vegetation is visible at the base of the rock. A few cracks run vertically along the stone, adding texture and depth to the rocky cliff.
A climber dressed in an orange shirt and black pants ascends a large, gray rocky cliff face. The landscape includes grasses and a small tree at the base. A marked path and a sign labeled "CLIMB ON" are visible at the bottom left. The sky is overcast with light clouds.
