Forest Road 184 Déjà Vu

Visited on: Friday, March 28, 2025
Departed: April 3, 2025
Cost: Free

After a long day of running errands and Maricopa and Tucson, I came back to the exact same camping spot as I’d used at the beginning of March. This time it was a little bit easier to back into the site as someone had relocated the fire ring over to the side and out of the middle.

I backed the trailer in and realized it was nowhere near level. So I looked around a bit and installed one of the fanciest most expensive jacks available. 😜

Close-up of a black CR857 tire on a stationary vehicle, supported by rocks, as if stopped on a rugged forest road. The vehicle's fender and part of the body feature a black and white design. The ground is covered with dirt and scattered pebbles. A white container is partially visible on the left.

Once again, I was treated to a spectacular sunset on one of the nights camping here, and I’m headed back down toward the windmill to snap a few more pics.

Silhouette of a traditional windmill against a vibrant sunset sky invokes a sense of déjà vu. The sky is filled with shades of orange, yellow, and red, casting warm hues. Bare trees are visible at the bottom, creating a stark contrast with the colorful sky and the towering windmill.
Silhouetted against a vibrant orange and yellow sunset sky, a windmill stands tall at the end of Forest Road 184 amidst barren, twisted trees. The fading light creates a warm, serene atmosphere, highlighting the intricate details of the windmill's blades and the branches below.

Sunset over a vast, rugged landscape with a dirt path curving into the distance. A windmill stands silhouetted on the left against a vibrant orange and pink sky. Sparse vegetation and cactus are scattered across the ground like déjà vu. Distant mountains line the horizon under a colorful sky.

Closer to the campsite, I found a tree begging me to also take it photograph.

A solitary, leafless tree stands against a vibrant sunset sky with shades of orange and yellow. The barren landscape stretches towards distant mountains under the colorful horizon, echoing a sense of déjà vu, while the foreground features dry grass and scattered bushes.

As I was sitting working one day, I heard a sound right outside the trailer that I couldn’t place it first. And I couldn’t exactly see what was going on until I took a closer look and found a roadrunner nearby.

A camouflaged bird blends with the dry, rocky landscape, surrounded by sparse bushes and desert vegetation. The scene feels like déjà vu, with brown and gray tones dominating the environment, and a cluster of cacti visible on the right side.

Well, sometimes it isn’t very pleasant to return to the same place when you were only planning on one trip here. I was happy that the second time, I didn’t have to run off after one night. I got some work done over a couple of days and also visited Tumacacori National Historic Park

Unfortunately, after visiting Tumacacori, a windstorm hit and made for an extremely long afternoon and evening. While the next day was better, the wind was still miserably brutal. I do hope as I hit the road toward Coronado National Monument that the weather is a little more cooperative over there. I can handle the lower temperatures, but man, do I ever get sick of the wind!
