St Mary’s Catholic Church

Visited on: Monday, July 1, 2024
Cost: Free

The rather grey day seemed somewhat appropriate as they rolled into Dawson, Nebraska. The statue of Mary caught my eye, and I pulled over to investigate the town. While some churches figure out how to afford upkeep maintenance., other ones struggle as time eats away at the architecture.

A red brick church with large pointed arch windows features intricate stained glass. The roof is steep and dark brown. The building sits on a grassy lawn under an overcast sky. Stone accents highlight the structure, and small crosses are visible atop the roof peaks.
Upward view of a red brick church with a tall tower. The arched stained glass window above the door reads "Saint Mary’s." A stone plaque with "St. Mary's 1896" is visible above the window. The sky is overcast.
A red brick church with large arched stained glass windows and a bell tower topped by a cross. The building sits on a grassy lawn with a paved walkway. The sky is overcast, and adjacent to the church is a white wooden building. A wheelchair ramp leads to the entrance.
A brick church with a tall square tower topped by a cross. The tower features a large arched window with vertical slats. Below, an arched entrance displays "Saint Mary's" above double wooden doors. The building has a sloped roof and stained glass windows on the side. Overcast sky.
A red brick church with arched windows, featuring a central large window divided into panels. A tall steeple with a cross rises above the building. Orange flowers line the small garden in front. The sky is overcast, and trees are visible in the background.
Interior of a church with wooden pews aligned on both sides. The altar is at the front, adorned with religious statues and a backdrop of painted scenery. Stained glass windows line the left wall, and a baptismal font is in the foreground. High ceilings enhance the spacious feel.
A small chapel altar featuring intricate carvings and two angel statues on either side. The altar is adorned with a central ornate tabernacle, two candlesticks, and lit candelabras. The white altar cloth contrasts with the warm tones of the surrounding architecture.
The image shows the interior of a church with wooden pews and an altar. The altar has a white cloth and several candles. On the right, there's a large, colorful stained glass window depicting religious imagery. The walls are adorned with religious statues and paintings.
Interior of a church with wooden pews on either side of a central aisle covered by a pink carpet. Stained glass windows with colorful designs adorn the walls and a larger stained glass above wooden double doors. Ceiling fans and hanging lights enhance the serene setting.
