When I left the City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico, I had several places in western New Mexico that I wanted to visit and explore. However, the weather just would not cooperate.
I spent a chunk of time trying to figure out where to go, and no matter where I looked, the weather wasn’t that good until I passed halfway through Arizona. So I headed to the Sonoran Desert National Monument, not knowing that I would totally fall in love with this area.
The sunset that greeted me when I arrived completely for told of happier days and a bit of warmth that I would enjoy over the next week or so.
With a decent Internet connection, I got down to business and spent several days working. And almost every evening, I was greeted with a wonderful sunset to wrap up my day.
It was so wonderful to finally put my shorts back on and not be freezing my butt off at night. I spent a little bit of time just wandering into the desert, not knowing that in the future, this would become one of my favorite things to do whenever I was in this National Monument.
