Kearny County, KS Veteran’s Memorial

Visited on: Wednesday, September 27, 2023

Only shortly after seeing the Historical Marker for Chouteau’s Island, I found a nice war memorial at the Larkin Cemetery.

The Kearny County Veteran's Memorial features two black granite walls etched with names in a circular plaza. Four gray benches encircle a star detail, while four pillars stand at the corners. Trees and open grass complete this KS tribute under a clear blue sky.

Of course, what caught my attention was the tank.

A green military tank is displayed on a concrete platform in a grassy park. It has a large cannon and a bulldozer blade attached to the front. A flagpole with a dark flag stands to the left, and green trees are scattered in the background under a clear blue sky.
A green military tank is displayed outdoors on a concrete pad. Its treads and wheels are visible, with a monument made of brick and a tree in the background under a clear blue sky.
A tall, pyramid-shaped brick monument stands on a circular concrete platform in a grassy area. The structure has plaques on its front and is surrounded by trees under a clear blue sky. A small spotlight sits on the grass nearby.
A memorial made of light gray stone features tall, pointed columns, military insignias, and a dedication stone in front. Multiple flags, including the U.S. flag, are flown on poles behind the monument on a grassy lawn under a clear blue sky.
