After an epic few days in Roswell, New Mexico, I headed south to Carlsbad. Did a little shopping and planned to head to find some BLM land for camping, but right after I left the city limits, the check engine light came on on my jeep.
I headed back into Carlsbad and stopped at the O’Reillys, where I got a recommendation for a great, honest mechanic. Of course, it was after business hours, so I headed to set up camp.
The location was much like West Texas – rocky, windy, and barren. But the sunsets were pretty awesome.
The next day, when I headed to the mechanic, it turned out that the check engine light was only a stored code, and there really wasn’t an issue with my jeep.
So I scheduled an oil change and decided to also have some air shocks installed inside the rear shocks to help lift the back of the jeep while towing the trailer. Of course, now we were heading toward Christmas, and I would have to wait until after the holiday for any of the work to be done.
The weather went to crap, and I spent my first Christmas on the road, primarily working, cooking, and eating in my trailer because of the high winds and chilly temperatures.
Fortunately, the sunsets were beautiful, and I did wander around, checking out the cactus.
