I know there’s fantastic Mexican food in Arizona. Last year, I totally fell in love with Jacky’s Mexican Food near Buckeye. And I had found several other tasty places too.

This year, my luck with Mexican food was very poor. I’ve had greasy tacos Dorado and sopapillas fried in the same oil as fish. I knew my luck had turned when I met this fantastic couple standing outside the restaurant.

Colorful metal skeleton sculptures of a man and woman, dressed in traditional Mexican attire, stand under a leafy tree. The man wears a sombrero and poncho, the woman a wide-brimmed hat and floral dress. They're bordered by a stone wall and decorative screens, surrounded by greenery.

Tubac is an adorable artistic community with galleries galore. I wish I’d had time to spend poking around this intriguing little town, but I was hungry and a good Mexican meal was what I desperately needed.

I ordered the Gorditas one with pork one with chicken one with red sauce, one with green sauce, and I was not disappointed when that plate was put in front of me. It tasted as wonderful as it looked.

A plate of Mexican food featuring enchiladas with shredded lettuce, cream, and cheese, served alongside refried beans, rice, and a side of salsa. A bottle of Coca-Cola and a black napkin with utensils are on a wooden table in a restaurant setting.

Now that my string of bad luck with Mexican restaurants has been broken, I will happily be seeking some south of the border flavors again soon!

Here are a few more pictures from the restaurant and the menu.

A cozy café interior with wooden tables and black stools. Pink flowers hang from the ceiling, and colorful lights decorate the walls. A counter with a drink machine is in the background, and large refrigerators are on the right. Natural light filters in through large windows.
